Appeals

If you want to appeal a decision made by a child welfare committee in a case, you can appeal to Føroya Kærustovn within four weeks of receiving notification of the decision. However, this does not apply to cases relating to taking over care.

Decisions about placing a child outside the home made by the Main Child Protection Committee cannot be appealed to another administrative authority, but can be tried in Føroya Rætt.

The Ministry of Social Affairs supervises the Child Welfare Services´ and Barnaverndarstova's tasks in accordance with section 67 of the Children´s Act.
